Murder Defense
Kaitlyn has handled almost every type and topic of murder charge imaginable, having represented clients in over a dozen murder trials, from triple homicide charges arising from a high-speed car chase to abusive head trauma aka "shaken baby" allegations.
Gifted from the beginning with incredible clients and mentors, Kaitlyn quickly developed a talent for defending murder charges with her signature enthusiasm and fearless "bulldog" courtroom presence.
In her 7 short years of practice, she has tried over a dozen murder cases, obtaining total acquittals or a plea offer to reduced charges in all but one. She is proud to have given oral argument at the Supreme Court of Georgia, assisting to obtain the reversal of her client's three felony murder convictions in February 2025.

Violations of Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism Act
In Kaitlyn's experience, "gang" prosecutions target some of our most vulnerable and underfunded communities, mislabeling groups of children as violent criminals, and disproportionately impacting people of color.
To combat the racist and classist underpinnings of Georgia's "Gang Act," Kaitlyn founded the "Gang Defense Unit" during her time at the Chatham County Public Defender's Office. Her mission was simple: provide top-quality service to (often teenage) clients who had been targeted and wrongfully labeled a gang member.
She carries on this mission today, expanding her boutique practice to combat gang prosecutions who do nothing but exacerbate gun violence amongst our youngest and most vulnerable.

Serious Felony Defense
Serious Violent Felonies are a unique set of felony charges defined by O.C.G.A.
§ 17-10-6.1. A person charged with a serious violent felony is subject to different bond restrictions than for lesser felonies and misdemeanors. They may also be facing mandatory minimum sentences if convicted that cannot be paroled.
For the better part of a decade, Kaitlyn has exclusively represented clients facing Georgia's most serious charges, both as a Major Crimes Public Defender and in her specialty private practice.

Firearms Charges
(State and Federal)
With an increase in gun violence affecting our community, the State and Federal governments have expanded firearms prosecutions efforts across Georgia. With more attention on these charges than ever, it's critical to have a lawyer who understands weapons violations at the State and federal level.
Kaitlyn has successfully defended clients in over 250 firearms-related charges in Georgia, from pistol possession by a person under 18 to machine gun prosecutions.

Murder Appeals
The most effective appellate advocates are intimately familiar, not just with the technical nature of the appellate process, but jury trials themselves.
Kaitlyn's extensive trial experience makes her uniquely qualified to offer appellate services in murder cases, as she does at Kaitlyn Walker Law, LLC.
Appeals require immense time and dedication, and Kaitlyn is lucky to be able to narrowly select those clients and appeals for which she can make a difference. Her latest appellate effort saw her give Oral Argument to the Supreme Court of Georgia in September 2024, ultimately securing the reversal of her client's three felony murder convictions.
